The most important architectural work of Mimoza Nestorova Tomikj, co-authored with architect Kiril Muratovski, is the complex of Museums of Macedonia, which contains the Historical, Ethnological and Archaeological Museums, as well as the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments. The complex of Museums of Macedonia is located in the Old Skopje Bazaar and in the history of Macedonian modern architecture it is an early example of revitalization of valuable historical fabric.
The Complex of Museums of Macedonia is a very complex architectural-urban task. In the authentic historical given, consisting of the small constructed structure of the Bazaar with its monumental historical buildings, the biggest design challenge was to incorporate a body that contains an extensive program, developed on over 14,000 m2 of usable area.
The Complex of Museums of Macedonia was developed around an open plateau through which the building connects with "Kurshumli Han", forming a unique cultural and historical space with the potential to function as an archeological park and public space for cultural events. In order to link with the touchstone of the surrounding area, the building is divided into several recurring volumes, which through the roof landscape are connected to the picturesque mix of roofs and domes in the Bazaar. The dynamic architectural composition follows the functional needs of the interior space and the concept to form a single and continuous exhibition space, with clear and logical communication.
